We had our annual art competition in St. Joseph’s in June. All pupils entered and the standard was very high once more. The winners were chosen by an independent judging panel and the prizes were presented by the Parents’ Association. Congratulations to all the boys on their creativity, the teachers for the inspiration and the Parents’ Association for funding the prizes.
On Thursday, June 7, a cheque to the value of €500 was presented to St. Joseph’s as first prize in the Carbon Detectives Competition. A condition of the prize is that the money be used towards the cost of further energy-reducing efforts in the school. The competition measured the progress made in reducing our school’s Carbon Footprint over the past few years. This has been achieved by our efforts at energy saving, recycling and especially in the area of school travel. In our recent WOW competition more than 70% of the school population were travelling to school on foot, by bus or on bicycle. Well done to all the boys and their parents for the effort put in and we hope it continues.
Ms. Bleahene’s Class performed for the Confirmation in St. Joseph’s and will perform again for the Eucharistic Mass in St. Joseph’s church.
