On Friday we held a Zoom assembly and a socially distanced getogether in the school yard to say farewell to Mr. Frank Concannon as he retired after long years of service to St. Joseph´s. Having started here as a class teacher in 1984, Mr. Concannon has in recent years been part of the special education team. Present and past pupils will remember him as the “medals man” on sports evenings, for organising the football league in the VEC grounds and for his successful “Green teams” which raised awarness of environmental issues and achieved seven Green Flags for St. Joseph´s over the last 20 years. He will be missed by all of us and we wish him a long and happy retirement.

We´ve had some great fun with the last two weeks- we had our Active Week, Art week and Biodiversity Week where the local plants and wildlife were explored and many boys have developed gardening green fingers. One boy was missing school so much he made his own school with Lego! Finally we had our bakeoff and Mr. Reale has just announced that Charlie from Ms. Tynan´s class is the winner with his “Social Distancing” Cake!! Well done everyone!
Wow, wow, wow what a week of fun and challenges that was!! Massive congratulations to all the boys that took part in our challenges ‘Try and beat the teacher’ and of course to our wonderful teachers who set the challenges. Check out our Beat the teacher Challenge by clicking on our Active Flag tab section on the top right hand side of this page.
Boys, you all did incredibly well. The amount of skill and talent in St Joseph’s is second to none. Everyone who sent in a video or a photo of themselves doing a challenge will be put into a draw for a prize in September. Best of luck to all of you.
Make sure to keep the active levels up over the summer. You are all champions…….next stop ‘The Olympics’!!!
