Active School Flag
St Joseph’s B.N.S. is striving to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. With help from our teachers, students, parents, and wider community we hope that in 2021 our school will be recognised as an official ‘Active School’. As always, when the school community puts our minds to something, we can achieve big things. This will be no different.
About the Active School Flag Project:
The Active School Flag is a Department of Education and Skills initiative which recognises schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community, by awarding them with an Active School Flag (ASF).

Our Active School Flag Committee
Back in September 2019 we set up our Active School Committee. Each class voted and two children from each class were chosen to represent them.
We set up our Active School Committee. As it stands this year 2020-2021 these are our Committee members:
Mr Kelly’s 1st Class: Rian and Joey
Mr O’Brien’s 1st Class: Matthew and Robert
Ms Gorman’s 2nd Class: Culann & George
Ms. Durkan’s 2nd Class: Tim & Enda
Ms Rooney’s 3rd Class: Conor & John Gallen
Ms Maher’s 3rd Class: Darragh & Jack
Ms Tynan’s 4th Class: Max & Conn
Ms. Byrne’s 4th Class: Bobby & Senan
Mr O’Flynn’s 5th Class: Cillian & Tommy
Ms Molloy’s 5th Class: Alex & Finn
Mr Brennan’s 6th Class: Charlie & Daniel
Ms. Bleahene’s 6th Class: Ryan & Seamus
A key part of the ASF process is finding ways to encourage less-active children to ENJOY physical activity more. Therefore, it is essential that the voice of less-active children is represented alongside the voice of more active children on the ASF Committee.
