Santry Athletics

A great effort by the Joeys boys over two days in Santry after some last minute coaching with Melina. Louis (60m h) and Tom (600m) both took bronze medals with Gareth taking silver also in the 600m to follow up his gold in the recent South Dublin cross country champions race. Best result was from Alex who threw a great 10.77m to win the shot put. You can see a clip of Louis´ heat victory on RTE here at 2.05. In the relays, the Under 10s just missed a medal after two great runs but the three older teams all bagged silver medals after some close contests and slick baton changing. Our thanks to Fergus and William of Sherry Fitzgerald Lettings who have generously sponsored new kit for our athletes.  Photos here  Videos

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Le coicís anuas bhí ocáidí eagsúla ar siúil sa scoil le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaeilge. I measc iad súid bhí ceachtanna rince, cuairt ó ghrúpa ceoltóirí tradisiúnta agus tráth na gceist i nGaeilge. Ár mbuíochas leis na múinteoirí a d´éagraigh gach rud.
We had a variety of events in the school to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. These included Irish dancing lessons, quizzes and a visit from a group of traditional musicians. Thanks to the teachers who organised everything.

Catholic Schools’ Week

We celebrated Catholic Schools’ Week as January came to an end and welcomed grandparents to our classrooms to reminisce, share stories and wisdom with our boys. The theme for the week was: Family – own, school, parish, and world. During our prayer service we remembered Canon Frank Mc Donnell and Mr George Higgins who both passed away during 2017.

Communion 2017

Congratulations to all the boys on receiving their First Holy Communion in St. Joseph’s Church in Terenure.

Green Flag Award Ceremony

We were presented with the Green Flag for our work in GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP – LITTER & WASTE (our sixth flag) on Tuesday, May 24. Oscar  and Ethan  attended the ceremony in The Helix, accompanied by Ms. Maher and Mr. Concannon. Of course, awards like this are only possible as a result of the hard work and enthusiasm shown by the Green Team and by the pupils and teachers of St. Joseph’s. Well done to all concerned.

Green Flag

The Green Committee and Mr. Concannon have worked tirelessly over the past two years to ensure that St. Joseph’s retains our Green School status. Their hard work  was recognised by Green Schools Ireland when St. Joseph’s was awarded yet another green flag. The new flag was officially raised today by Mr. Concannon, the Green Committee and Ms. McCabe.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

We were treated to some top class traditional music and dancing for Seachtain na Gaeilge. The traditional band were invited by Mr. Concannon and Katie Farrell gave an  exhibition of Irish dancing. Katie will be competing at the World Dancing Championships next week.

This was a fantastic opportunity for us all to experience live music and dancing.
