Congratulations to our past pupils who have been excelling on the sports pitches of Dublin and further afield recently. Four boys, Eoghan Brady, Seán Thornton, Nicholas Sheehan and James Whitty played on the successful St. Mary’s College rugby team which defeated Blackrock College in the Leinster Schools Cup final. Eoghan and Seán played in Croke Park for us in a Cumann na mBunscol final. James along with Mick Smith(Terenure College) played for the Ireland Under 18 team as they defeated England in the Six Nations played in France over Easter. In GAA Jack Walsh, Harry Lynch(hurling) & Luke Thornton(football) are on the Dublin minors while James McCormack is part of the senior football squad for the first time. Hopefully they can follow in the footsteps of multiple All-Ireland medallists Eoghan O’Gara, Denis Bastck, Paul Curran and Brian Stynes. Past-pupils Jack McGrath, Eric O’Sullivan and Niyi Adeolokun all won senior Ireland rugby caps, We are not sure if we have any Republic of Ireland caps among our past pupils but Josh O’Dwyer played for the Under 17 team as they qualified for the World Cup to be  held in Qatar in November. He is regarded as an exciting talent and has recently signed for Red Bull Salzburg(Austria) where he will begin his professional career next season. Only 4 years ago he was winning athletics medals for the school in Santry.
