Mr. O’Flynn came back to school last week to visit his 5th class from last year. He had some news for them…
Last year the boys wrote, acted and filmed three short plays for the Fís Film Awards – an all-Ireland competition organised by Blackrock Education Centre in association with NCAD.
Mr. O’Flynn reported that the boys were outstanding: acting out their parts and backing up those who were on screen at any particular scene. The others were covering camera, sound, script and other areas.
Arise and Go Now – a comedy set in a fifth class with the boys taking a different slant on a famous poem.
Fighting for Peace – set in 1917 during WWI
Don’t Talk to Strangers – an eerie piece.
Having reminisced about the previous year and after watching the three movie shorts again, Mr. O’Flynn told the boys that they had received a Highly Commended award for ‘Don’t Talk to Strangers’
They were awarded a very unique and appropriate trophy – a film-can!
