The boys in St. Joseph’s get to experience many different sports and we are especially grateful to our local sports clubs for the expert coaching they provide.

At present we have Tommy from Faughs Hurling, Kevin from Templeogue Synge St. GAA, Fintan from Leinster cricket and Gareth from Leinster rugby coaching various classes.

Swimming classes in Templeogue College and fitness classes in Kaizen Dojo also tie-in with the PE curriculum.

Gaelic Games are our most traditional school sports with St. Joseph’s having been founder memebers of Cumann na mBunscol in the 1920s and appearing in dozens of Croke Park finals since then.

Athletics is also very prominent here in Joeys’. We take part in regular cross-country events and in the Primary Schools’ sports in Santry every June.

Many of our past pupils have gone on to have glittering sporting careers. Among those are Dublin All-Ireland senior football medalists: Paul Curran, Brian Stynes, Eoghan O’Gara and Denis Bastick. Irish rugby internationals Niyi Adeolokun, Eric O’Sullivan and Jack McGrath were all Joeys’ boys.

Who knows how many more names we will be able to add to this prestigious list as the years progress…
